Station 2: Jesus Carries His Cross
“Bearing of Your Cross”

By Ngoc Anh Tran – Ignis Ministries
I am a bearer of my own cross; however, I am not carrying my cross alone, for Christ would not give me a cross that I could not bear. We should not be afraid of the cross, and the only way to be with Christ is to walk toward the cross. In moments of struggle, hardship, or what may feel like desolation, it is very hard to see the consolations. Just as Jesus did when He carried the weight of the world’s sins on His shoulders and abided by His Father’s will, I will do likewise — but with my cross.
I often say things like, “It’s my own cross to bear,” or “We all have our own cross to bear,” to remind myself: Who am I to cast the first stone? Reflecting on Station 2 — Jesus Carries His Cross — it’s humbling to think that Jesus simply said, “Yeah, okay,” placed this heavy cross across His back, dragged it to the place of His death, fell three times, endured the ridicule of the crowd, fulfilled God’s will… and here I am complaining about a minor inconvenience.
As I reflect on Jesus’ response in Station 2 — Voluntary Acceptance — I am reminded that accepting my own cross, and using it as an instrument to draw me closer to God, is part of my journey of discipleship.
